Somewhere between one and three years old, toddlers tend to start a biting habit. This is a normal phase of toddler development. The most common reason for this problem is that this is one of the few ways that toddlers can effectively communicate with others. Not all children are biters, however. Some grab, shove, pinch or punch. That's probably just as bad!

Another reason that toddlers bite is that they feel frustrated because their motor and communication skills are so limited at this time.

A toddler likely finds it amusing when mommy jumps straight up, or a little friend starts crying. Another possible cause of biting behavior is related to teething; if they can put a teething ring in their mouth, why not someone's ear? The cause might even be as basic as being hungry. Couples who are thinking of starting a family are curious about Downs Syndrome. Everyone wants a healthy baby and there is quite of information available to couples on the subject of prenatal health and the prevention of birth defects. Though many types of defects and abnormalities can be prevented, some can not, such as Down Syndrome. Something about Downs Syndrome that couples may not know, is that it is not preventable and it is not inherited through family genetics. Children born with Down Syndrome do not have to have a lesser quality of life than children without the disorder, but do require a higher degree of educational intervention, as well as guidance for behavior modification. Some of us have no business writing about the three major credit bureaus, and some of us have no need for all that is involved in the 3 major credit bureaus. (And some of us fit in both of these categories, having no real assets to work with or write about!) In the same respect, the leading bureaus do factor into most of our lives—if we have ever purchased a home, a car, or other major item or if we use credit cards. Oh yeah, I can still recall those days back in the 80s when I carried around my Walkman everywhere. Yeah, those were the good old days. Or at least that's what folks tell me. I was in elementary school at the time and things were okay I guess. I don't think I'd put the whole "good old days" spin on it. I prefer the present myself. Regardless, there is one thing I can tell you about the 80s. More on Cheap Portable MP3 Players

As I get older I fear that I am becoming more and more conservative. My husband laughs that we are turning into our parents, which is something we vowed would never happen when we were younger. I find that the very things that I argued with my parents over have become battles with my teenagers. The fashions they choose, music they listen to and language they use have been the focus of many of our family gatherings lately. I have found it hard not to participate in the arguments, even though I know that my children are good kids.

My son has been working part-time jobs since he was twelve years old to earn money for a car. He had had paper routes, mowed lawns and has worked at fast food restaurants. Now that he is looking at vehicles he is most interested in the car speaker systems than in the safety and mechanics of the vehicle. He had saved a decent amount of money and would be able to buy a safe reliable vehicle. However he feels it is important that the car speaker systems are top notch. The car he is most interested in has many miles on it and needs new breaks, but the car speaker systems are loaded. He argues that it is his money and that he will be responsible for the car’s up keep. My concern is that he will be putting a great deal of additional money into keeping the car running and that the car speaker systems will make him a target for theft.

My son and I have always been very close, but the process of buying this vehicle is placing a strain on our relationship. My husband has stepped in and has decided that he will help with the decision making concerning the vehicle. This did not ease my mind a great deal because I remember the car speaker systems that he had in his early vehicle purchases. I told them that I would stay out of process if they would promise me that he would not drive one of the vehicles that send a pulsing through the streets when they go by. We have all experienced sitting at a stop sign, or walking down the sidewalk and being able to feel the bass thumping in the car next to us. My son assured me that he was not interested in having a sub-woofer in the trunk.

I was pleasantly surprised when my son pulled into our yard with a late model four door sedan. He said that he bought it from a private party and that the car had low mileage. He knew it was a reliable car so he decided to buy it and will now save money to buy custom car speaker systems. We will cross that bridge when we come to it and in the mean time he is driving a safe nice looking car.

You wouldn't believe how hard to accomplish and how rare the classic American success story is. I would estimate that for every 30 people who start with nothing, maybe one makes it – maybe. I was that one. I emigrated from South Korea about 20 years ago, and since then I have been working tirelessly to get my business start up going. I never made it rich, but I definitely have arrived at a comfortable place in my life – a place where I can provide luxuries for my kids that I never had growing up. So when I found out that there was another, easier way to make money, I was pretty surprised

I have a friend who offered to buy my business for quite a bit of money – more than I think it was worth. When I asked him why, he was hesitant to tell me at first, but finally he leveled with me. Apparently, his business is to buy and sell business operations. He never runs them, but he makes a huge amount of money off of them. When he first explained it to me, I thought it was some kind of strange joke. This friend, you see, has always had a peculiar sense of humor. But he explained that the buy and sell business career is actually much more straightforward than I would think.

The business buy and sell trade is almost as old as the corporation itself, if not older. As a matter of fact, buying and selling businesses was instrumental in the rise of the giant megacorporations that now dominate so much of world commerce. On the high end, investors get together and pool their resources to buy and sell business by acquiring major shares in the boards of directors of prominent corporations. That way, they can gain economic control and reap the benefits of the work these businesses do, then sell them for a substantial profit. Small traders like my friend, however, can make a killing too. It is all matter of being there at the right time for the right deal.

You see, there are small businesses for sale every day. Perhaps they are family owned businesses and have to be quickly liquidated to raise capital for some type of emergency, or perhaps the owner has simply gotten sick of running the business and wants to retire. Whatever the case, a shrewd investor can buy and sell business operations and turn a substantial profit. Sometimes, my friend will rearrange the running of the business, invest in some marketing, or buy new equipment to make it more profitable. Just as often, however, he will not change anything. If you know the right people, you can buy and sell business making 50% profit or more!

When starting a new business, many have problems deciding how much money they need. They may have a figure in mind, but if they have never owned their own venture before, they may have no idea about hidden business costs. These can be small, or they can be very large and troublesome. Most figure out what they know, but far too many fail to do proper research before they take out a loan to start their own company or service. This usually means they will fail because they run out of money.

Business costs can be something like Monopoly money. This game is about real estate, but it is something like what would really happen to an unprepared business man or woman who has not done enough research and has not secured enough money for business costs. Towards the end of the game there is one player that seems to have a lot of property but they can’t keep in the game because their cash is too low. A business might be well stocked and cared for, but without the proper money to keep it going, it is going to tank.

In order to calculate business costs, research into similar businesses is essential. Though this information might be hard to find, it can be done. A bank that has experience with business loans may even be able to help with this, but they may not be able to help other than offering to extend the loan. Their screening process might weed out loans that are way too high for the endeavor, but they may not say if they think the estimated business costs are too low unless they think it would cause the loan to default.

The Internet is good for many things, and when it comes to research about business costs, there may be a lot of great information out there to be found. It is important to note the source however, as not all things are written by people who know what they are talking about. There are many great books on the subject, and these might be the best tools to help estimate business costs and also to find other great pieces of information that someone starting a business needs to know. When it comes to opening and running a new business, there is no such thing as too much research, but too little could really do at lot of harm and might mean the difference between success and failure.

I recently got in touch with a friend I had not talked to in over a year. We hadn’t really had a fight, but for some reason we had slowly drifted apart. While we were catching up, she mentioned that she had to go take a defensive driving course in order to get her license back. Though I never thought of her as an aggressive driver, I can see why some of her driving skills might have been called into question. I love her dearly, but I have to say that her driving leaves something to be desired.

She told me that the Department of Motor Vehicles had informed her that she could not renew her license until she took a defensive driving course. She had been caught speeding one too many times, and even though her license had not been revoked right away, it would be revoked upon renewal time. Though she is not one of those drivers that will cut you off, or make obscene gestures at you on the highway, her speeding can be seen as aggressive. I’m not really sure that a defensive driving course will do her much good, but perhaps she’ll learn something about the safety of others on the road.

I know that there are a lot of people who could benefit from a defensive driving course. I’m not saying that I’m the greatest driver on the planet, but I always courteous to others on the road. Perhaps this is because I learned to drive while in my twenties, and by that time, I was a little more in awe of what a vehicle could do. When I see somebody who is driving too close to me, or who may be wanting to pull around me, I always give them all the room they need. I don’t need a defensive driving course to teach me this. The last thing I want to do is to be involved in an accident.

Perhaps more children in high school should be offered a defensive driving course. I know that many driving instructors try to teach this type of driving to everyone, but there are many people who did not take it seriously. Teenagers are especially bad with this, as they believe that they are invincible at times. If you have a teenager who is learning to drive, or if you find that you are getting angry on the road, perhaps both of you will benefit from a defensive driving course. It’s not admitting that you are a bad driver. It is showing that you are trying to become a better one. You may even save money on your insurance once you complete the course.
